Priority Area 6: Statewide Awareness, Visibility and Presence

Goal A: Increase awareness of the work, services and accomplishments of Nebraska Advocacy Services, Inc.

Objective 6.1: Implement a public awareness program to increase awareness of the work, services and accomplishments of DISABILITY RIGHTS NEBRASKA as evidenced by a 30% increase in the DISABILITY RIGHTS NEBRASKA e-mail list, unique visitors to the DISABILITY RIGHTS NEBRASKA website, and number of Facebook fans.

Objective 6.2: Establish collaborative partnerships with ethnic, linguistic, and minority community organizations to share information and provide outreach and services to people with disabilities with a 10% increase in services requests from the following targeted groups: African American, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Asian American.

Objective 6.3: Maintain office in western Nebraska and fund its operation for 3 years.

Objective 6.4: Establish a Native American student internship program in connection with post-secondary schools (university, college, community college, tribal college, etc.).

Objective 6.5: Allocate staff time and travel to serve as a liaison of NAS with State or local coalitions, collaborative activities, or serving as NAS representative on committees or work groups of other organizations THAT ARE NOT COVERED IN ANOTHER WORK PLAN. (For example: NABHO meetings, NSBA meetings or committee work, DD Network meetings, LHRMA meetings, Human Service Federation, NESILC, TBI Advisory Council.)

Objective 6.6: Establish collaborative partnerships with the Winnebago Indian community to share information and provide outreach and services to people with disabilities.
