Priority Area 4: Isolated and Vulnerable Individuals

Goal: Advocate for and protect people with disabilities who are isolated, vulnerable and at-risk.

Objective 4.1: Provide training, consultation and technical support to the 5 established citizen advocacy offices to ensure fidelity to citizen advocacy principles and the continuing growth of citizen advocacy in these communities.

Objective 4.2: Investigate and respond to no fewer than 100 allegations of practices that cause or contribute to serious physical, emotional, or financial abuse, neglect, or death of any individuals with a disability in Nebraska.

Objective 4.3: Monitor the NAS/LRC Memorandum of Understanding and maintain a regular presence at the Lincoln Regional Center twice a month, including regular attendance at meetings of the LRC Women's Council.

Objective 4.4: Maintain a regular presence at least one time per month at each of the following: Douglas Community Mental Health Center, Alegent Health facilities (including Lasting Hope Recovery Center), LifeQuest facilities, OUR homes (Lincoln), Spring Creek Home (Inavale) and develop and maintain a presence at Youth Residential Treatment Centers.

Objective 4.5: Maintain a regular presence (2 times per month) at the Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC).
