Priority Area 3: Inclusion, Access, and Transition to the Community
Goal A: People with disabilities shall have available to them a system of services and supports that is based on what people want and that shall assist them to achieve full inclusion and meaningful participation in the community of their choice.
Objective 3.1: Represent at least 15 people with disabilities in acquiring assistive technology devices and services, including systemic litigation.
Objective 3.2: Represent at least 5 people with disabilities in public accommodations cases or employment discrimination cases in which disability is the central issue.
Objective 3.3: Secure vocational, employment and other support services for beneficiaries of Social Security disability income programs through the federal Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Act for at least 25 beneficiaries of social security programs.
Objective 3.4: Work with disability groups (Arc, ADAPT, SILC, MHA, NAMI) to increase awareness and support for grassroots organizing focused on voting rights, inform 200 people with disabilities about their voting rights and assist at least 2 people with disabilities to resolve complaints with the Secretary of State’s office.
Goal B: Assist people with disabilities in obtaining services in the most inclusive settings.
Objective 3.5: Represent up to 30 students with behavioral impairments, or students in special education who have multiple suspensions or are expelled in order to secure for them a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive setting.
Objective 3.6: Manage Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Contract
Objective 3.7: Conduct site reviews of organizational employer representative payees as determined by Social Security Administration.
Objective 3.8: Conduct research and prepare a white paper that analyzes the systemic problems regarding developmental disability eligibility and service terminations/reductions, and propose strategies for resolution.
